God's will. Those two little words can cause so much joy, anticipation, excitement, or they can create fear and anxiety and apprehension in our lives. Why is that? I believe that sometimes we don't fully understand what God's will is. We can easily confuse our desires and our wants with God's will for our lives.
I believe that if we truly want to know what God's will for our lives is, then we need look no further than His Word for direction and confirmation.
God is explicit in His word about what He wants for us and what He expects of us. Many times however we neglect to look in to His Word before making a decision, starting a relationship, investing His money, determining a direction for our lives.
It is true that God has a plan for each and every one of our lives, however it is our responsibility to seek Him for that direction. Search His Word thoroughly for guidance and confirmation on the path we plan to take.
If we are truly honest with ourselves, as we search His Word, if the plan or path we intend to follow is not of God then He will make that clear. God's Holy Spirit, residing in a believer will give us a warning signal, if we're pursuing a wrong path. We often disregard the Holy Spirit's warning and proceed because we've convinced ourselves that our desire is the Lord's will for us.
Knowing God's Word, and spending time in God's presence, can save us a tremendous amount of heartache, concerning His will for our lives, if we just do what we should do at every railroad crossing, Stop, Look and Listen.
I was reminded of this one afternoon driving on a country road in southwest Montana. I approached a railroad crossing while not paying attention. It was an uncontrolled crossing, no drop down gates to stop car traffic. I was almost to the tracks when I heard the loud long blast of the train engine. It was at that moment I looked to my right and saw a large Montana Rail Link train engine about to enter the intersection. Had I continued forward I would have been crushed, but because of the engine's warning blast I was able to stop and avoid near disaster.
It's the same in determining God's will for our lives, we need to Stop, Look and Listen. Stop and take time to seek God. Don't move forward impulsively. Make time to seek Him through His Word. Read it slowly, digest what He is saying. Then listen to the message He is giving. Don't ignore the promptings or the warnings of the Holy Spirit. Be obedient and do what God says.
God's will for us may not be what we think it is. It is better to get confirmation from the Lord about His will, for our lives, then to forge ahead and regret it later.
Seek God's will and as you do Stop, Look and Listen.
Memorial Day, a day to remember, remember loved ones who have passed on. Remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. Remember!
The Lord asks us to remember as well. When Israel was on the border of the promised land, Moses spoke to them one last time and instructed them to remember. Remember what the Lord has done for you, these forty years in the desert. Your shoes and clothes did not wear out, you did not go thirsty, you had food to eat. Remember how loving and gracious the Lord is.
We to need to remember what the Lord Jesus has done for us. Just as many of our soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice, so the Lord made the ultimate sacrifice and laid down His life so that we could be truly free.
Our sin held us in a prison and kept us on death row. But Jesus, seeing our condition, took the penalty for our sin and died in our place, on that cross some 2000 years ago. His sacrifice purchased our pardon, from our death sentence caused by sin.
This memorial day remember. Remember loved ones and Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airman who sacrificed for our nations freedom, and remember Jesus who made a sacrifice beyond our comprehension that granted us true freedom, and an eternity in heaven!
It's Tuesday, and it's a beautiful gray day in Humboldt, KS. The forecast is rain, but don't despair. Rain brings new life and new growth, just like God's Spirit, when He rains It down on us, the Spirit brings new life and new growth.
Rejoice today because it's brand new and there has never been a day like today. Praise God for His gift of today!!!!!!
